Joe Vaden, Jr.

Meet Joe

Joe Vaden has deep roots in House District 37 as a fifth generation Oklahoman. His mom grew up in Pawhuska, and his dad grew up in Foraker and Shidler. Born and raised in Ponca City, Joe is raising his own kids in his hometown with his loving wife Marie.

Joe has experienced everything rural life has to offer – from tending to horses at his grandpa’s house to learning to drive on the gravel back roads of Osage county with his dad. He learned to shoot a rifle by age 10, finished Hunters Safety Training at 11, and bagged his first whitetail by age 13.

Joe has been in the IT field since early 1995, worked in remote site support for ConocoPhillips in the early 2000’s, started a small IT consulting business and worked as an IT contractor for an Oklahoma higher education agency. After running his business for nearly 20 years, Joe changed gears in 2021 and is now currently an IT administrator and commercial construction estimator for a local roofing company.

Joe and Marie have been married for 23 years and have four wonderful children – two graduates of Po-Hi and two more still attending public school. Marie, who’s been a Registered Nurse for 15 years, works at the local hospital. Joe has volunteered to coach many sports teams for his kids, nephew and godson, and he’s known among his friends as the guy who will help with almost anything.

ON THE ISSUES

The Value of Life

“Oklahoma’s future is being threatened by a breakdown of our longstanding sacred values and eroding freedoms as citizens. Every person, from the unborn to the elderly, has the same right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I will stand tall in the face of adversity to protect every Oklahoman, especially the least among us. I am unashamedly 100% Pro-Life, and nothing will ever change that.”

Second Amendment

“…shall not be infringed. Period. In the Capitol, I will work to restore the true meaning of those words. No more government encroachment on our civil liberties. I will work tirelessly to ensure no law will prevent any Oklahoman from determining the manner or means of how to best protect themselves and their loved ones.”

Election Integrity

The 2020 election showed the fragility of our election system and has severely diminished the confidence in that process by The People. Elections with accountability are essential in a free and independent society. I pledge to ensure that the ballot irregularities seen in other states in 2020 never come to Oklahoma by committing to support regular random audits of our elections at all levels.

Education

“Oklahoma’s schools continue to fall behind, which means we all need to put in the work to become more competitive. We pay our teachers less comparatively and we lag behind in academics. Past solutions have only thrown more money at the problem, yet we still have an education system that is poor. We need to be creative as we look for ways to help families find the best solutions for their children. Education has proven to be a sound investment in the future for taxpayers as today’s well-educated children are tomorrow’s leaders.”

The Private Sector

“Small business is a large part of the engine that powers Oklahoma’s economy. Unfortunately, needless taxes and intrusive government regulations are choking that engine. In the wake of statewide lockdowns, many businesses are still struggling. Capitalism and the free-market system are the only fuels that will reignite our prosperous economy; not more added regulations, higher taxes or government “stimulus” programs that leverage our children’s future. I believe that individuals know the needs of their business better than politicians. With that in mind, I pledge to work with small business owners to find solutions to their needs and drastically improve the Oklahoma economy.”
